UPMC Medical Education-PA

i keep seeing ppl say UPMC has a lot of long commutes. But don't a lot of places have distant clinical sites in addition to the main site? is there smtg particular about UPMC commutes that I am missing?

i want to go into mohs + want to settle down and work in SoCal (home) eventually. knowing that, is one better than the other: UPMC vs UCLA? (posted in X vs Y tab too) < I've heard people typically work in the region they do their residency, so I'd recommend UCLA. OTOH, you'll likely want to do Mohs away from that area since some programs don't want to train their competition. < LOL as if there are Mohs jobs in SoCal < Can't enforce non-competes in California--one of the reasons why silicon valley bros make $$

inspired by a post below... How is UPMC in terms of its sites? I know there are a lot of sites but do you spend a main bulk of time at one campus/area? Or are you really just spread out equally all over?

where do UPMC residents spend most of their clinical time? seems like there is a shadyside clinic, does anyone remember if that is the home base?

If you intend to apply to prelims at programs where you have an advanced IV, check their deadlines. UPMC TY for example has their deadline for application set to tomorrow.

To be considered for UPMC prelim do I need to have submitted an application or are all interviewed derm applicants considered? thx!

Any impressions on UPMC's interview day? Seems like it's fairly short, with two 15 min interviews?

just realized that only four of the top 20 programs have released invites (emory, yale, UTSW, northwestern)... 11/29 is the big day < I mean also Pitt, UNC, Duke, Cornell, Minnesota < are you implying all these are T20? < all very strong programs but not top 20 if we're going off of doximity.. which is flawed but yeah < what are you judging their strength based on? < doximity does it mainly based on research and reputation I think, not sure how to evaluate a program otherwise... maybe we should come up with a rubric for quality and breadth of training?
