Heard really bad things about UTSW

I forgot about UTSW!!! Yes apparently they have weekly graded quizzes and also some of the faculty are super mean?? Can someone confirm?? x2

Faculty all really nice. True about weekly quizzes which may not be for eveyone but they keep you on track and ensure you are very well trained.

<< there's a reason why UTSW has a reputation of producing the strongest clinically trained dermatologists. The residents seemed really happy there. Doesn't seem like there's much scut work. x2

Anyone hear from TYs or prelims for UPMC, Lehigh Valley (Allentown, PA), or Mercy Catholic (Darby, PA)?

Yes oakwood has also gone out

I have heard nothing from UPMC prelim/TY... I have strong ties to the city, and I've been dong well with TY interviews so far.

Does anyone else find it kind of weird that some of these programs seemingly have not sent out invites this late? I don't know what to make of this.

Apparently UPMC is dealing with changes in program leadership and have been pretty disorganized this year. Not sure about Brockton.

Brockton historically doesn't send invites until November, at least in recent years

Last year, St. Vincent (Indianapolis) had sent out both interviews (10/5) and rejections (10/27) by this time, according to the SDN thread

Nope. Neither I or any of my classmates have. Someone mentioned something about UPMC having a change in leadership that caused a delay (look for it in chitchat archives).

I grew up in Pittsburgh and have gotten some other more "competitive" TY interviews... AND I wrote UPMC a LOI. Have heard nothing, not even a reponse to my email.

I don't know if there's any truth do this, but my friend at UPMC told me that pretty much all the spots this year have already been guaranteed to their med students

Even so, they need to interview more people. What if their med students rank other places #1?

I think they basically take their own for prelim, but if you look at their current TYs, 3/9 came from other schools. Unless they changed their policy for this year of course. This is so strange. Also I haven't heard ANYONE (including pitt med students) say they have gotten an interview.

wtf is taking them so long? It's already November.

Two of my UPMC friends got internal interviews for prelim in early October.
