M3 here. The fact that 3/6 Yale applicants stayed at Yale suggests that either the applicants love the home program or that Yale takes their own applicants to ensure that they match. Could someone clarify this for me? I have reasons to

Why were there comments about a Yale invite that got deleted. Was somebody trolling and faking an interview?
At around 1:12-1:13PM EST, somebody added comments in the Yale row indicating phone call, external, with interview dates 11/29, 12/6, 12/13. Then was deleted later. These dates are last year's dates offset by 1 to make it still a Wednesday...
Did we ever establish if the Yale interview invites from last week were real? There was a discussion about whether invites had gone out, if only internals had gotten them, etc.
I’m on phone, did the same person that added the resolve them? We can ban people who troll now. ... Or maybe it was real? Can anyone else corroborate yale invites?
Maybe someone just didn't copy and paste the comments in? I just posted a comment here, and it got "resolved" just a few minutes ago.
sorry if i resolved that comment earlier. it was a legit accident, this system is kinda hard
Yale interview invite! Just got the call. External. x3
Why is no one resolving the "No" for Yale to a "Yes" on the interview tab?
I think someone may have protected the yes/no columns, may have to wait for D to come back to fix that.
Don't think so, because Tufts and Southern Illinois were changed to a "yes" well after a comment was left for Yale to be changed to a "yes"
If you look at the formula, it's set to automatically change to a "Yes" when you put in the date for First Actual Contact Date (which has not been done yet for Yale)
Oh right, I'm an idiot. Looks like it's fixed! | Anyone know if Yale sends out in batches or am I just worthless?
Based on your question, probably the latter l ...
One school is not a measure of your self worth - I'm sure you're amazing!
Internals have not received invites, so there's still hope. | FYI Yale called this AM (external x1) so there's still hope....
Yale internal x1 this morning as well. x2
Did you guys mean this morning, as in 11/1? l Yes, 11/1 x2
^^^Lotta anxiety here right now lol....
Apparently we're not allowed to post interview invites from top programs on this spreadsheet (see Yale, UCSF)
Harvard, Stanford, Penn, and NYU will crash the sheet
Mid or low-tier program sends out an invite -> "Congrats! Internal or external? Any ties to the program?" vs Top-tier program send out an invite "I DIDNT GET AN INVITE THERE SO YOU MUST BE A TROLL. WHY ARE YOU COMMENTING ANONYMOUSLY? LIARRRRRRRRR"
Please stop. This is not productive.
Can anyone interviewing at Yale on 12/6 or 12/13 switch dates to 11/26 with me?
Dear applicant with two interviews scheduled for 11/29. There is 1 week left. Please be courteous to your fellow applicants and drop one of your interviews.
Anyone else think the two VCU people are a perfect swap but they probably forgot that about their swap request?
Contact info is right on the sheet if you want to contact them direcly and give them a heads up
done lol
The dbaggery with double booking is unbelievable. Wish this was all done through ERAS and applicants couldn't do this in the first place. x2
This 11/29 applicant was actually TRIPLE booked with Yale initially, if you look at the resolved swaps.
Too close to the interview date and a program probably can't even accommodate a swap, the interviewers have to read over files in advance
Its a small world and people will find out about this bullshit
If anyone can switch with their UPMC or Penn State interview date with me, that would be fantastic. Otherwise, please leave me alone. These programs don't even have waitlists. They're not going to pull one of you guys in at the last minute. Thanks.
Damn, ice cold reply. But it is a little messed up people are attacking the person for doing something, almost everyone here would probably do too in the same situation
I don't have sympathy for the applicant who's manipulating the interview system. If he/she cancels right before an interview, or no-shows, their school should hear about it and word should spread. Do you think the program that gets shafted will invite future applicants from that school?
These programs don't even have waitlists --- you can't be serious. Just because a program doesn't send out a waitlist doesn't mean they don't have alternates they will offer an interview when people cancel. Programs have a number of interviews they want to conduct in order to ensure they match all their spots. If everyone like you refused to drop an interview until the last minute, you are putting these programs in a bad spot and hurting another person's chance of matching. x3 again canceled psu last week and just didnt update this spreadsheet so yall are wasting your time complaining about me
This person forgets that several lines up they asked if anyone could switch their UPMC or Penn State interview date with them
how bad is it to miss a dinner guys? I'm kind of a bind with dates. does the dinner actually make a difference?
Yes. You will be at a signfiicant disadvantage
I am going to have to miss a few dinners, too. I think just make sure to explain the situation. They understand, and no, I don't think you will be at a significant disadvantage.
depends on the program- some programs require you to attend the dinner like Harvard, some say it is optional like Yale. so check in the email the wording for the dinner invitation, and whether they give you the option to RSVP. I would say most programs understand that sometimes we cant make it for dinner- especially that many flights are getting delayed in this season
Rationalize however you want but its better to attend one interview and the dinner than attend two interviews. Almost every program gives votes to residents or takes their input. If you don't attend dinner, you are much less likely to get support from them. Especially if you have a neutral interaction at the actual interview day
Strongly disagree with the previous statement. Current residents can veto you if you do something really inapporpriate but no program I've ever heard of gives them real weight in making the rank list beyond that veto. The residents might be able to subtly sway the attendings by saying good things about you but thats a small advantage at best. Go to more interviews and give yourself more ranks on your list. Maybe if you want to cancel a program you dont care about in order to make your top choice's dinner I could see doing that, but thats about it
Current resident here. I matched at a program despite missing dinner so it's not a deal breaker. I disagree with one of the comments --- many programs have residents interview or rank candidates. The chief residents usually have more weight.
Do you guys get replies to all of your thank you notes?
I haven't gotten any replies (from derm programs anyway). Also I hate thank you notes so much, they are so meaningless.
I got 2 replies to my Thank yous (I sent out 11 total), all from same institution.
Should I be sending thank you notes?? How important are they, really?
I was told by residents to do them. but a fellow told me they probably don't matter too much. but i still did them by hand
FTR one of the residents at yale told me she didn't send a single thank you note. Obviously she did okay.
Yale reject x 10
RTM calls started today!
From where?
Also curious as most programs have said they do not do this x2 \| RTM calls x2 (from a top 10 program) - previous spreadsheets show what programs have done RTM calls in the past (., ., ., Henry Ford, BU, etc) - Was it ., . or .?
Yale is also top 10 and outright told us at the interview that they would be making RTM calls.
not OP, but I already got a RTM call from a top 20 program this week.
WashU or Iowa?
I didn't interview at Iowa, but my friend said he got a call from them. Didnt seem like a RTM, just a hey, we think you would be a great fit, any questions? kind of call.
So you think Iowa called all of their interviewees and said "we think you'd be a great fit"? Or what exactly constitutes a RTM call? Do they have to explicitly say you are ranked to match?
. will make calls This year but as far as I can tell they haven't started
I think Iowa called everyone. Why do you think this?
Maybe Iowa is lonely.
I interviewed at Iowa and didnt get a call so.... x2 |
<<I'm also curious about this. It seems kind of early for this
Maybe it's ., they finished their interviews in mid December. Or Yale.
I got a call from Yale
Did they try to get a sense of where you ranked them?
When did you get the call from Yale? Did anyone get a call from .?
Programs that have done RTM calls so far= Stanford, Yale, any others?
Only Yale
UCSF
Yale def did (I got a call), but Stanford doesnt do RTM calls and UCSF hasnt done them yet from what i was told by the PC
Stanford did not make RTM calls. Above we were saying they may call all people they interview to ask for questions. haven't done it yet it seems though,
I got an explicit RTM call from Stanford
Stanford doesn't do RTM calls, stop lying to troll us.
Man there are some sadistic assholes on this spreadsheet. The thought of potentially being a co-resident with one of them is terrifying x2
Any RTM calls/emails recently?
As far as I know, the only programs who have done it are: UCSF, Yale, NYU, UPenn, NW. Am I missing any?| I thought NYU didn't?
Stony Brook - As of 10/01/2016, this program is no longer accepting applications for the ERAS 2017 season. If you applied before this date, the program will be able to access your application. - Per ERAS... very interesting.
Maybe their deadline was today?
Did you just apply today and get this message? I got nothing...
A lot of programs have Oct 1 deadlines, not sure why anyone would wait this long to apply
If you search for stony brook in your "Programs Applied to" tab its written there
Penn and Yale say the same thing
They're also all NLA (No Longer Accepting applications) on the ERAS Participating Programs List.
Looks like Yale interviews just went out <--are they still calling **seriously **crosses fingers** JUST GOT CALLED THERE IS STILL HOPE!!! || what time?? and what time zone? Literally 5 min ago
What's the 4.25 next to Yale's number of spots lol
Some posts are shown because their comments mention this program.
I didn’t see it,
