💬1. seriously, why would ANYONE waste a signal here if you didnt do a RY with the department? 90-100% of their spots go to their own fellows.
Are Sinai med students not strong? Their match list for derm always surprises me. I thought they had a good school name, but they barely ever have any ever matches to programs outside of Sinai.
might be bc since they only take their own research years its less reciprocal for other schools to take them

why is it better to do a prelim over a TY if you don't match? < it isnt. It's better to do a TY. Unless you want to do IM back up; then the only benefit of a prelim of your first year of IM is done. Otherwise TY is easier, more chill, and usually allows you more time to do aways and research
Looked up the cook county PGY3 that got dismissed. Very sad that this can happen. How are people getting dismissed from derm programs? Have heard of many residents now getting dismissed, for example at Mount Sinai recently too

this post needs to be pinned. there are residents getting fired from programs and its too risky to be around unstable faculty who can ruin your career

Whats going on with the Boston University comment about accredidation/cheating scandal?
so this whole time they're just under accreditation warning cause the residents cheated.. wtf?>> THey took someone I know that was the most idiotic person in medicine clinically but somehow had the highest step2 score of people I've known, i wouldn't be suprised if he paid a testing facility in their home country so they could cheat

yeah unfortunately most academic derms won't be making finance/CEO level salaries lol, although there are a surprising # of derm attendings/residents from generational wealth

Does anyone know anything about the resident life at the Sinai Elmhurst preliminary year? Interview there tomorrow, but wondering where it ranks on the chill list
prob none for sure, maybe sinai bc their match is all RY fellows (still competitive, but you're competing against less people i suppose tbh)
