how are there more people ranking uconn on this list vs yale lol

#28232025–2026 DermFeb 21

there's hundreds of applicants applying that have never touched this sheet, seems like most of the ppl who rotated at uconn are on here, also big reason why uconn pops up on this sheet so much!

Feb 21
0

they also interviewed 50ish ppl. not sure how many yale did.

Feb 21
0

yale interviewed around 60 but people are real weird about it like sometimes a ton of negative info other times that info goes missing

[people continue to delete the tea on harvard vs Yale vs penn]

#28032025–2026 DermFeb 21

you'll drink the koolaid at any of these programs. within derm, penn is the premiere program. harvard's name externally carries weight, but there's a cost to that (working ~10 hours more on average per week). no difference to future career prospects. yale is smallest chill

Feb 21
0

and as big a name as Harvard. >> most non-derm people don't know that Penn is a good program

Feb 21
0

id argue that while it is lesser known than harvard, the average person would understand that penn is at least "good" lol

Feb 21
0

keep in mind that the advice on here is HEAVILY biased by people who are also ranking these programs, and often, playing games in that regard... imo the best advice is pick place where you'll be happiest whether that's location or culture (if you did an away/interview vibes) or something else

Feb 21
0

also consider COL (a studio in boston proper ~2k)

Feb 21
0

<- lol, I've been told things that deeply conflict advice at left + just look at the rank list < is the rank tally affecting your decisions tho < def no. each program interviewed 30+ people and like 10 have listed the "rank" on the tally? < sorry I meant look at the rank list to see the likely COI at play here

How are the research track/2 applicants thinking about ranking programs? I was most impressed by UCSF, then Penn/Harvard. New haven seemed bleak but good research. Going to be a tough cycle with how many apps there are this year and limited number of spots

#27782025–2026 DermFeb 21

Also impressed by Penn, Harvard, Yale, Northwestern

Feb 21
0

also, I wonder how far the Harvard/Yale name can take someone.

did ppl who go to Yale interview receive instructions on how to submit for the reimbursement?> I think its through that website that we get emails from

#27212025–2026 DermFeb 21

i called the help desk on that website and they said to just send the reciept to the PC, which is what their original email to interview said as well

Feb 21

does anyone know what programs typically fall far down on their rank list? and how far we can expect? like if a place has 3 spots, some programs interview upwards of 70... does that mean they fall down their list? as opposed to place with 4 spots interviewing 40...

#25482025–2026 DermFeb 21

program specific, but generally yes. unclear why penn interviewed so many this year, though, so likely some exceptions to this rule

Feb 21
0

how many did penn interview

Feb 21
1

70 allegedly? (per their intro spiel) but could be fake news

Feb 21
0

their website says 48-60, but still a lot

Feb 21
0

yale also interviews around 60 for 6 positions, but doubt these programs fall far on the list..

Feb 21
0

stony brook with 50-70 for 3 is crazy too!

Feb 21
0

seems fairly standard for programs to interview 10 candidates for each residency spot

Why was the Yale IV negative impressions deleted? *side-eye*

#24492025–2026 DermFeb 21

mod here, just restored. if something gets removed in the future, please go ahead and flag it so attempts can be made to recover

Feb 21

shady that yale negative comments keep disappearing

Feb 21

what did people think of Yale interviews? vibe?

#23562025–2026 DermFeb 21

all of the comments seem pretty aligned - curious, did anyone feel differently?

Feb 21
0

found it to be a good interview experience. people seemed to know my activities and such. That being said, I've had bad ones other people noted were great, so I think there's no way to tell!

Feb 21
0

thank you so much, that's really helpful! they didn't know anything about me, not sure how/ how much i should read into it haha but good to hear all experiences/perspectives

Feb 21
0

dinner was fun, wanted to love.. but interview had mixed vibes and overall not what i expected

Feb 21
0

I thought I was the only one who felt this way. It makes me feel better that I wasn't the only one. I thought it was a "me" issue lol and that they didn't like me or think I was good enough.

Feb 21
0

what do you guys mean by mixed vibes??

Feb 21
0

at least for me some people were nicer/reacted more. Other just seemed kinda cold tbh and didn't really give verbal cues that they liked you or your responses.

Feb 21
2

right, especially since the night before they promoted the program as smaller, tight knit, and caring, but that did not ultimately seem to show

Feb 21
2

the residents were great but faculty mixed, some faculty even kind of antagonistic during interviews. one room probed uncomfortably. others no reactions. in a program that small it felt off. also, new haven lol.

Feb 21
0

i had two or three rooms with faculty that either seemed to intentionally interrupt or disagree with whatever my answer was or downright showed no emotion or attempt to make small talk. Interview also dropping it lower on my list.

Feb 21
1

on the spreadsheet last year people noted similar things: not super collegial feeling, some discomfort with faculty interactions, some parts of interview felt inappropriate

Feb 21
0

they have also been accused of removing negative comments on the spreadsheet in previous years

Feb 21
0

someone DID remove negative comments from the yale name and shame this year as well

Feb 21
0

red flags :(

Feb 21
0

I left the interview day loving the program. It is clear the program values their residents and doesn't just treat them like cheap labor. Felt at home with the residents. Faculty were very intentional in the questions they asked. The questions were tough but appropriate.

what did people think of the yale interview? i felt like the social dinner was friendly but interview day was super depersonalized compared to other programs. it was not clear if anyone read my app> felt the same way>i also felt the exact same way, felt like a switch flipped on interview day

#23052025–2026 DermFeb 21

reactions were deadpan so i was rambling...

Feb 21

Interviewed earlier in the season and felt the same.

Feb 21

i think it fell on my rank list, because for a medium sized program they didn't seem to care about me lol >> lol I mean we are not their residents, why should they care about us.

Feb 21

location + vibes + 1> prestige. let's be honest any grown adult that actually cares about prestige at this old ass age of their life has deep Freudian insecurities + 1

Feb 21
0

I'm def prioritizing my own wellbeing in this next stage of life meaning vibes/schedule/location right now matter more to me than prestige/ranking

Feb 21
0

literally whatever you want to prioritize too, if you want prestige then go for it, if you wanna be near family, go for it. it's your choice wo/man, no one else matters in this decision (except maybe if you have a spouse and kids)

Did people who are interviewing for Yale on 1/7 get their individual schedules yet?

#21992025–2026 DermFeb 21

no :(

Feb 21

can anyone who has already interviewed at Yale this cycle speak to when schedules went out?

Feb 21

I interviewed 12/3 and we got our schedules 11/24

Feb 21

what were the interview vibes?

Feb 21

Feb 21

this sounds like a lie… when did this happen?

Feb 21

don't be fooled. It's actually Necrolytic Migratory Erythema

Feb 21

N word was Niagara

Feb 21

bold faced lie from whoever is making this claim, should be ashamed of self >> such a low blow. I mean I know we all are feeling anxious about the interview season but making false allegations is not something we should do.

should we make a list of places that assign interview dates for next year's applicants? like someone mentioned below that's an easy way to get a conflict

#21072025–2026 DermFeb 21

UVA, Penn, UConn, USC, lake granbury, northwestern peds derm, yale

Feb 21

0

Feels like so many more people are canceling interviews/having conflicts this year? Why?

#21032025–2026 DermFeb 21

they are putting a lot of same-tier programs on the same days. I had a Yale/NW/Penn conflict, for example, could only make 2 out of the 3

Feb 21
0

that's whack sorry you had to cancel when you worked so hard :(

Feb 21
0

thanks am also v sad :( but hopefully someone who really wants the one i canceled gets it! It was in my top 5, but i think it could be someone's #1!

Feb 21
0

this happens every year; it's especially tough when programs assign your interview date

Feb 21
0

if you're able to have a "top 5" and that's not all of your schools, you're in a good spot. Drop your act, and the drop the II's

Feb 21
0

lol what act? OP dropped an interview and was sad about it and i would be too

Feb 21
1

I wish programs were more accomodating of dates, I think it's very unfortunate OP had to drop one of those programs, they're clearly a great applicant and deserve to interview at all the programs they got if possible

Feb 21
0

luck is factor in this process. Would you want an unlucky dermatologist??

Feb 21

OP here, i laughed

to those who interviewed at yale, how was your interview? also do we know how many internal candidates are at yale this year?

#20962025–2026 DermFeb 21

Seems like there's a good number from the internal candidates page on here. Interview was a weird mix of chill and intense depending on the room. Faculty seemed like a mix of cool and uptight
