HELP.. i just realized UPenn said apply PRIOR to 9/29 ....i thought the time stamp was the same (9/29) regardless as long as it was all applied before 9 am.

anyone have insight into if pennsylvania programs other than Penn and UPMC take students outside of pennsylvania? seems like resident lists from programs like Jefferson, temple, and penn state are all from penn affiliated medical schools.

Penn has an upcoming meet and greet in like 4 days we should ask them how they can be in philly and have Dr Taylor and no black residents lol < i think they just matched a black girl this past match < yes. they had to create a whole separate spot to be able to match their one black resident lol < Lol a Penn Black resident graduated last year, and 2 were matched last cycle.

What are the top 5 programs for derm? Harvard, Penn, NYU, UCSF < Yea those programs seems to be the usual consensus < I feel like these are all overrated. < how can they be overrated if they are literally the best programs in the country< I think of these 4 NYU is probably the best and Harvard probably the weakest. x4 < Seems like NYU=UCSF>Penn>Harvard from the websites and what I've heard on the topical podcast but I don't think I will get interviews at any of these lmfao < which episode talks about program rankings?< OP here. There is no episode that has rankings. I was speaking to my own research looking at their curriculums and schedules. I brought up the Topical podcast because there is an episode that talks about the weaknesses at Harvard Combined which seemed to make the training a little weaker than the others mentioned, but what do I really know? < I think it comes down to geographic preferences and career goals between these programs. They all have their strengths and their weaknesses, but train amazing dermatologists.

M3 here curious if people did not rank Stanford and UCSF highly causing them both to go far down their lists (they both matched IMGs). Is that normal?< UCSF is considered the best program in the country by many. They can do whatever they want and rank who they want. Stanford is Stanford, pretty sure they are in the same boat as UCSF and don't match far down their lists. UCSF also interviews like 20 people. That is a different level of elite. x2 <also being an IMG does not mean they are a bad candidate, some of them have already been derms in other countries for years, with tons of research in us, and/or phd's. they probably are/were better than other candidates x4< yea the IMGs the T10s match are always insane candidates x2

i'm super confused why so many people here seem to hate on yale compared to the other top 5s...it was my dream program and i ended up matching at another "top 10" but i'm still pretty bummed. even though new haven isn't exactly boston or new york, the residents at yale are consistently the top scorers on boards and more PDs have come from yale than anywhere else. not that harvard, NYU, Stanford, UCSF and Penn aren't great too, but i think we're doing a disservice by not consistently including yale with those programs. still wish i could have been there!!!!

medicine: we have treated generations of minorities horribly and have excluded them for our own selfishness (e.g. Kligman at Penn derm), we have to find ways to do better. Derm applicants: absolutely not! don't start that shit when it is my turn. slavery ended ages ago, medicine is now a leveling ground, we are all equal here so this is discrimination. i mean, there are 5 black people in my class and 4 are international/african and only one is an african american and it doesnt bother me at all that african americans who grew up here can't make it to this spot, there must be something wrong with them, all 33 million of them, don't blame me!

Feeling like I messed up my rank list bad. I had Harvard, UPENN, UCSF as 1,2,3 out of 25 but then I made a last minute switch. I wanted to be close to home so went with UCSF. Am I going to be able to get a job ?
