so to summarize, if the rumor mill is true, at least some ppl get calls from ucsf, harvard, yale, ucsd, usc, penn?

#32712025–2026 DermMar 12

I don't think this is true. The PD at Penn is VERY clear they DO NOT do post II communication. he feels very strongly about it

Mar 14
0

same with UCSF's PD..> the whole thing strikes me as BS especially with the earlier link to an article with a paid mentoring service

Mar 14

I know people who got rtm calls from penn pd

Mar 14
4

sure buddy

Mar 14
0

I heard people who got Pen was for tracks and not by PD

Mar 14
0

100% serious that I know schools that do post-ii communications/rtm calls when they tell everyone that they are hellbent on no post-ii communication. Just beacuse a PD says it does not mean they won't do it experiencing this gave me trust issues tbh lol

Mar 14
1

PD's will do anything to get the best of the best, RTM calls happen because programs are selfish

Mar 14
0

well at least i know i'm not the best of the best yeee

Mar 14
0

I matched at one of the programs listed above, no RTM call. This rtm thing was absolute bs

Mar 21

0

god do we think 10 people actually got RTM calls

#32582025–2026 DermMar 12

I got 4 RTM calls. One is my top choice so we'll see if they're actually telling the truth. It might be a small group of people receiving the majority of them. I went to a T5 med school and did a RY at a neighboring research power house that was very productive. Most people march without them do don't worry!

Mar 14
0

ok this is my legit prediction i have no info to back this up. But what if the programs doing the RTM calls are the UPenn, Stanford, UCSF-type programs that don't want to lose out on applicants because they picked HMS. Akin to med school applications where programs knew based on historical data it would be hard to convince applicants to drop an HMS acceptance?

Mar 14
0

ucsf explicitly said they dont do these calls btw

Mar 14
0

ucsf student here, they do it undercover several classmates of mine got some

Mar 14

lmfao get real

Mar 14

Mar 14

anyone know if harvard does RTM call

Mar 14
0

Ik the pd personally, they call 2-3 ppl (source resident)

Mar 14
0

omg i'm going to jump off of the golden gate bridge

Mar 14
0

i mean i guess that just means you're at the top of their list? which doesn't mean you won't match there

Mar 14
0

lol why would a harvard resident be on this gooner sheet

Mar 14
0

dude its hms, ofc they want you to beg for it with a LOI...

Mar 14
0

this is bullshit yall are lame

Mar 14

when does harvard usually do the RTM calls?

Mar 14

0

why does UPenn have so many "tracks", and only 3 "normal" spots?

#32502025–2026 DermMar 11

ik all the Penn track people did, not sure about the "normal" spots

Mar 14
0

people who got the calls, did you end up ranking Penn number one?

Mar 14
0

wait all the track people got calls?

Mar 14
0

you dont know all the track (or non-track) ppl lmao? but good info to have regardless

Mar 14

I don't think this is true. The PD at Penn is VERY clear they DO NOT do post II communication. he feels very strongly about it

Mar 14
0

no idea - so dumb

Mar 14
0

I didnt realize - I don't think this is true very desperate to know bc i ranked penn derm 1 and did not get a call. did general derm people who got a call rank it 1?

Mar 14

There's a UPenn CTCL track? That strikes me as absurd, like, BONKERS.

#32432025–2026 DermMar 10

I don't think it's bonkers - definitely a niche track but they're trying to build leaders in cutaneous oncology research> it's TOO niche, there'll be a handful of such programs across the country that can support a career in something so niche

Mar 14
0

it's basically a built in research year. intended for people who wanna do the super specific academic jobs

Mar 14
0

It is the ultimate fame and shame since it shows how people truly (or reportedly) ranked, despite the one-off stories peoplen share in the fame and shame tab>> There is literally no guarantee people are suddenly authenthic. People applying next year can anonymously make shit up so people rank lower their choice

Mar 16
0

my point remains. Compilation of data is better than anecdotes. Stay mad.

Mar 16
0

Its purely there to fulfill curiousity but where you rank a program doesn't really matter if the program doesn't rank you highly

Mar 16

New secured fame and shame sheet is created. Go wild.

#31792025–2026 DermMar 4

Anyone know any cons for Penn?

#30512025–2026 DermFeb 22

Can we make a list in the cell to the right of places whose derm interview automatically counts as your interview for a prelim/TY year too?

#28292025–2026 DermFeb 21

Penn State, Northwestern, Yale (kind of), Georgetown, Ohio State, Brown, Cleveland Clinic, UPMC, UTHSC (tennessee), Zucker/Northwell, Emory, Mizzou, WVU, Dartmouth

Feb 21
0

wait I didn't know about Northwestern, are we sure?

Feb 21
2

northwestern med derm counts for prelim.

Feb 21
0

Penn state does??

Feb 21
0

yes Penn state does, presented to us on interview day

Feb 21
0

what about northwestern regular Derm/peds derm> NW med derm counts for advanced derm NW position + med derm position. NOT prelim. You can ask to be considered for categorical IM, but that was not guaranteed by just applying.

Feb 21
0

Exact wording: "We are very excited to welcome you to the Northwestern University combined Medicine-Dermatology interviews, which also serves as interviews for either the categorical Medicine and/or advanced Dermatology tracks, if you have applied to either of those Northwestern programs. "

why is penn suddenly getting negative comments, is this more propaganda < people trying to get others to rank it lower so they'll match

#28092025–2026 DermFeb 21

Also someone deleted the Penn data on the rank tally sheet. People are so insecure and pathetic

Feb 21
2
0

is it easier to match into a med derm spot than a derm spot

#28062025–2026 DermFeb 21

prolly not

Feb 21
0

Each year at least 40-50 people apply to med derm for 1-2 spots per program, and three of the programs being Harvard, Penn, and NW definitely doesn't make it any easier. I'd say more competitive by numbers alone ~45 applicants for 8 total spots)

Feb 21
0

except most people who are med-derm typically also apply to regular derm spots too

Feb 21
0

for this reason my PD told me that it is likely less competitive that matching derm alone, but probably not by much

Feb 21
0

idk about that that's 6ish applicants per spot while derm has 1.6 applicants per spot (at least for USMDs as far as I remember)? meaning med-derm would be more competitive in that regard

[people continue to delete the tea on harvard vs Yale vs penn]

#28032025–2026 DermFeb 21

you'll drink the koolaid at any of these programs. within derm, penn is the premiere program. harvard's name externally carries weight, but there's a cost to that (working ~10 hours more on average per week). no difference to future career prospects. yale is smallest chill

Feb 21
0

and as big a name as Harvard. >> most non-derm people don't know that Penn is a good program

Feb 21
0

id argue that while it is lesser known than harvard, the average person would understand that penn is at least "good" lol

Feb 21
0

keep in mind that the advice on here is HEAVILY biased by people who are also ranking these programs, and often, playing games in that regard... imo the best advice is pick place where you'll be happiest whether that's location or culture (if you did an away/interview vibes) or something else

Feb 21
0

also consider COL (a studio in boston proper ~2k)

Feb 21
0

<- lol, I've been told things that deeply conflict advice at left + just look at the rank list < is the rank tally affecting your decisions tho < def no. each program interviewed 30+ people and like 10 have listed the "rank" on the tally? < sorry I meant look at the rank list to see the likely COI at play here

Good Lord! How many of these 6 people, who ranked Arkansas as their #1, are liars?

#27922025–2026 DermFeb 21

It's my home?? You narrow minded af

Feb 21

everyone's like ohhh rank based on your priorities (family for some!)/where you would genuinely like best and then goes off like this, so odd. consider that there may be other perspectives? maybe? like good lord! what, are you all ranking T25s on your high horse and shitting on other peoples' choices?
