For Harvard IV, do we need to RSVP anywhere or just sign up on ERAS in two days? < looks like we can schedule 12/1 at noon ET

Anyone have a specific program that hasn't released yet they're waiting on? (... that's NOT Harvard).

"16<seen multiple confirmations on this sheet of this but heard from multiple residents at programs that their program only received 3 harvard apps." probably bc the precious harvard applicants don't have to apply everywhere or put in any effort in this process < lol stay salty, bud < harvard people don't need to apply to 60-100 programs each and it's not like the 16 of them have a meeting in their Chamber of Crimson Superiority to make sure their lists all line up perfectly. Probably only a slice at the top got apps from all of them. Relax about Harvard, please. It's like so tired people. < oh no, who told you about the Chamber of Crimson Superiority!?

I have no motivation to keep doing any of my ongoing projects. I have this big ongoing project where we are setting up our own free derm clinic night within our student run clinic . It was a huge undertaking, we got a grant from harvard and AAD, donations from companies for skin goodie bags, etc. Its so hard to attend operations meetings knowing I probably wont match to derm >> honestly, super cool initiative>> this is so meaningful OP! know that it will pay off one way or the other < I know it can feel like "what's the point..." but two things to keep in mind: 1) having something to work and focus on can help keep you occupied throughout this process and 2) if this year doesn't work out for you, having more to include in a future app will make it even stronger (whether that's research or projects you've worked on throughout this process)"

Discussion below reminded me of a recent conversation with my PD. Someone customized their personal statement talking about wanting to train here for our world renowned education...and I mean we have a decent program (definitely one many of the people on this crowd will consider beneath them) and my PD thought it was more insulting than flattering. I mean they know they are not harvard etc so kiss ass but do it less hyperbolically <ok but like doesnt it depend on the applicants background and what if they truly think your program is amazing < then say it is amazing. we are not world renowned in anything and we know it

Hey guys. I loved where I did my away and I was told by many people they loved me too. They're a non-t20 program not obsessed with stats (based on Residency explorer). I am not the most competitive applicant (prob slightly below avg competitiveness for derm). They only take. 3 residents a year. There were only a couple other rotators. I feel like this program will probably be my only chance.. and I'm worried they might pass on me for some hotshot from Harvard.. Does anyone know if programs rank highly the rotators they liked? Otherwise higher than even very competitive applicants?

why is the sentiment in derm that it is okay as long as you just get a spot anywhere? why are we willing to scrape the bottom of the barrel for derm? many of us can get MGH in almost any other specialty but here we are hoping programs in the middle of nowhere with no reputation have mercy on is. is it for money? because i know it is not for the love of skin < Because Dermatology faculty know that their specialty is a seller's market. It's that popular/competitive and has been for a while now.

if you had to choose an all around best derm program (forget about prestige etc) which would it be? < NYU < Penn < Harvard. I'll be honest. < Hahvahd < training wise it's def not Harvard lol <literally all of us would tank going to harvard even if it were truly the most malignant program lets be real guys. stop hating < yale < training wise all top programs are pretty similar, harvard just also has a lot of resources and opportunities - important for people with a specific niche or interested in research - by virtue of their having a ton of faculty members and funding opps

what is the krabby patty secret formula to get into harvard derm <i gurantee you 95% 98.5% of the viewers of this sheet have no ridiculous delusions about harvard derm its like the same people toxic trying to guess what they are looking for< Harvard derm is so overrated. Within top 5 they are at the bottom but like to believe they are the top. We all know the name is the only thing that carries them. < their actually training doesnt place them in the top five

who do you guys think are the strongest applicants this cycle< harvard internal +RY >>all else<gotta think the MSTPs from top programs would be higher tier than just a RY

Is it almost impossible to get off waitlist of MGH prelim? <- unlikely :( <- look at it as a blessing, that is a notoriously tough prelim schedule<tell me about it < seems like they are already interviewing 100 applicants for 7-8 spots, and i don't think ppl will drop this interview? < bruh i didn't get an interview or waitlist fmlllllll<really, they already interviewed 100+ people??, then why they waitlist us < yeah there are about 25 spots per date x 4-5 dates available< 100+ is the number in total ? or 100+ people they had fnished interviewing? < 100+ in total, they start interviewing in Nov

well dang didn't think prelims were so competative>wonder if signals are making a difference? more likely to interview people that signaled than just well qualified people that didn't < have gotten zero interviews from signaled schools, but still managed to get them from Harvard, so I'm feeling pretty down on the whole process right now

I'm trying to distract myself with crazy scenarios for my interviews lol so please just entertain this. Do people actually know anyone who has turned down Harvard for another T5 like Penn, NYU, UCSF, Stanford? Not anecdotal but actually know this to be true? <know somebody who interviewed at almost all of these and chose another program over Harvard, they felt like it was a better fit< unsure if this is confirmed or not but I think that chick who matched UCSF and is active on twitter picked it over these schools listed.< why are you assuming this? lol < I can confirm this is true from a trustworthy source < so i'm an applicant this year but from a top school and talking to those who matched last year, apparently harvard has a "reputation" for working residents super hard and not really having the best camraderie when you compare it to like ucsf < it is also just overrated. every time that comes up, someone here acts like because it is harvard we can't call it out. it is just not that great compared to others you listed< the hero we don't deserve!
