Any thoughts on Harvard v Penn v NYU v Yale? And then UCSF v Stanford, and how to weigh these two west coast programs vs Northeast? Anything other than geographic preference that one should think about?< It comes down to autonomy and ancillary support. Some of these programs give more than others. Some lack things the other have. No program is 100% complete, it just needs to check the most boxes on your list.

This might be better on the Prelim spreadsheet but figured you guys will know better. if I possibly maybe might be interested in mohs down the line, would prelim MSKCC vs BIDMC vs BWH be best? or does this not matter < depends what you want to do. if you're interested in onc, MSK is the way to go. if you're interested in complex med derm more broadly, BWH. if you don't have a particular focus and just want good training, BIDMC as it won't wear you out as much in the process.

How does the tier tab work? Programs like Harvard and Yale with lots of upvotes are stuck in Tier 2. Not that it's real or anything but if we're gonna have a tier system it should make sense

weird to include med school in zoom name? < i have noticed that it is fine for everyone else except students at T20s lol < meaning OK to include school name if school is below T20 med schools? <- just include it. if you went to harvard or stanford we get youre hot stuff. no one is going to be impressed if you went to dartmouth brown or cornell lol. < lol yeah.. I'm like ~T20 school but thought it would just help identify me as "person from ***" < anything but your name is weird

i really hate this narrative that people must be happy because others have it worse. people can have 10 interviews and be disappointed and people can have 5 and be ecstatic. everyone has different priorities and we should be able to have all of those coversations here < you're right, I have 30 interivews and im really sad I didn't get harvard < i am sure you are being sarcastic but for people who really feel that way, it is valid. just as valid as other people's concerns especially since there is no separate chat here for different groups of people. < absolutely, but there is also consideration. to say "only" when clearly a number is much higher than others is just not considerate, though it is okay to feel how you want!

did people get interviews with HMS-associated prelim/TY programs (e.g. BIDMC, CHA) and not get an II at harvard? wondering if its a sort of indicator that you might get an ii from harvard < me, but why do you care so much about harvard < because it's a great program?

Which institutions did not give all their away rotators an IV? (Other than harvard LOL) < Brown < Penn < wake

Change my mind: If you have 1 or 2 of the T5, I think it's in your best interest to do IV swaps with folks who have 2+. E.g. 1/6 has Penn/Harvard. 1/13 has NYU/Penn. If they give up the other T5 IV to attend your only T5 IV, they'll probably rank it #1. If they drop your T5 IV, the spot will go to another top applicant. You should want anyone likely to get ranked above you to match at a different T5, so you'll get to match at your only 1. >>yo go enjoy your Friday evening > also this requires way too many conditionals that it's rarely going to work out in the exact way you're describing< gunner smh, why are people here so obsessed with rankings

Out of curiosity, did anyone get a T5 (Harvard, NYU, UPenn, UCSF, Stanford) get ii without signalling them?

I thought about it overnight. I'm actually annoyed that Harvard didn't offer me an interview. Got a couple of other "T5" invites so I know my app is strong. And I have regional ties to Boston. Whatever, your loss. <I'm annoyed too.<< I hate to be ungrateful and fortunate enough to have a decent number of interviews but it just hurts...<same exact issue, got other T5 but not that one even with geo signal and the others not <OP here, I didn't signal Harvard, was thinking that was what made my app get lost in the pile lol
