Mass General Brigham-MA

Everything is perfect at the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency Training Program!!

playing 3d chess i see trying to make an institution look like they're sus by deleting their fame and shame. plz stop

how would you possibly know that this is what happened haha

that program is a mess but only real ones know that but most if not all will turn a blind eye bc Harvard lol

to it being a mess, its way too fragmented, it should really be two separate programs (theres a reason why so many harvard residencies went from being all the associated hospitals to two or event three programs )

there is no war in ba sing se < elite reference

Very chill!!

???> what you didn't understand?

sarcasm

I did not feel great about my answers

yeah heard it was bad :((

Yes the Harvard program probably has more inpatient time compared to other programs, but it amounts to 16 weeks (4 months) of inpatient consult time and call across MGH, Brigham, BI. People are just exaggerating the inpatient time, likely to dissuade others from ranking highly/#1

they do not scribe or cover attending inbox! program really tries to minimize admin (also no prior auths). inpatient and call can be tough, but residents seem happy with the balance because many blocks have great hours and alternate with inpatient. I believe it is 12 weeks of call?

By comparison, UCSF has 2 months of inpatient (one in PGY2, one in PGY3)

they have up to 6 months more inpatient time than similarly ranked programs

according to Harvard's recruitment handbook, there is 6 to 8 months of inpatient and 12 weeks of call (not including 2 months at boston children's which is both inpt/outpt)

how does this compare with Penn (since everyone is always putting these two up against each other for #1 rank)?

lol anyone else w/ Harvard interview who literally isn't even a top applicant (no Penn/Stanford/Hopkins/UCSF) it feels so weird

on a similar note: what's the best program in a major city?

Harvard or Penn (if you consider Boston and Philly decent sized cities)

NYC Power Rankings: Mount Sinai

I'd say it goes: NYU

Really?? What makes montefiore above Sinai /columbia?

NYU

Columbia = NYU

Cornell

Albert Einstein

Rochester

SUNY Downstate = Stony Brook

Northwell

NYMC

St. John's Episcopal

St. Barnabas

Montefiore = SUNY Downstate

Sinai = Columbia = Cornell

NYMC. (Rochester and Stony Brook are not NYC, and idk anything about St John's/St. Barnabas)

Sinai >= Columbia = Cornell

yes q3

ick thank you

welcome to the Bigelowwwww

POOP

why assume that people who are smart/well accomplished are autistic

based on this spreadsheet behavior, they are

what's wrong with being autistic lol

Derm departments can't keep subsidizing the amount of model trains it takes to keep wellness high

POOP

community programs are great but thinking that you won't get high volume training at an academic center is crazy. Like everything, your training and experience are PROGRAM DEPENDENT, not academic vs community. Rank which programs you like the best regardless of name, prestige, program type, etc. every program has something unique to offer. You might rank a community program first, then Harvard, then another community program, then so on. Your rank list shouldn't make sense to anyone else because it should be so tailored to your wants and needs

just rank the programs you will be happiest bro. program name doesn't matter for jobs when you're a board certified derm, unless you wanna do academics (which you dont)

Rank the place you will be happiest

POOP

Hopkins derm is fine and great education - splitting hairs at this point tbh.

Rankings are basically equivalent to research funding amounts so they probably have less derm research relative to the others

how are the research opportunities for hopkins med students?

Shhhh no one let them in on the Hopkins and Baltimore charm, keep out the competition < < Hopkins is a gem

POOP

I mean that HMS guy with 0 II's and always sounds like he wants to kill himself is showing Harvard to be a butcher mill

lmao this made me laugh

LMAOOO maybe cooper? but they also have 1 spot so

Jersey is v competetive :(

dirty jersey

cooper is just 1 spot this year!

wow omg

anyone know anything about rutgers rwjms?

wait they are notorious for not taking their internals? I thought they would just take their research fellow for this year

rutgers appears to ONLY take internals (from both Rutgers medical schools)

i just checked the spreadsheet and it looks like they actually took external applicants from 2022-2024, then 2 internals last year 2025.

BU

If the HMS person is real, I hope they’re ok

POOP

same I see them post on here often

That's a good gay length>?

POOP

What is HMS

harvard

for what it's worth i was told not to do aways by a mentor who primarily worked on research w/ me and then told to do aways by res/attendings i rotated with because it would be a good way for me to stand out to programs. so i would get multiple opinions from people before deciding not to do aways

so like what changed this year?? as an aside I think the faculty are getting tired of applicants just putting pediatric derm and wanting to work with underserved communities and not actually wanting to do that in the future. so if you're planning on putting those two to stand out, don't unless you actually strongly are passionate

I mean HMS is lowkey trash. Name can only go so far, hard work matters more!

HMS toxic

why is hms toxic

i mean OP clearly worked hard lol

I'd argue it's not toxic, faculty just assume students at "elite" schools don't need as much guidance and we'll figure it out ourselves which is not necessarily true lol

yes, if you haven't heard back - I would contact them.

they sent it as a doc in an email like last week

Harvard?

not OP but it doesn't matter? you'll get notified if you were on the waitlist

the people wanna know

obviously

has anyone heard back yet about confirmation?

no ;(

harvard sent an email that they're working on it, but nothing from yale yet
