What anonymous posters said

Anonymous posters frequently group this program among a small set of highly regarded dermatology residencies. Several described residents as happy and well supported with favorable quality of life and compensation, while some noted comparatively weaker derm surgery or Mohs training. Many posts also debated whether post-interview check-in or 'RTM' calls occurred, reflecting persistent rumor and uncertainty around recruitment communications.

Fame & Shame

2025–2026 Derm

4 entries

1. All of the hospitals are beautiful

1. I heard that their Peds Derm spot is guaranteed to whoever their current research fellow is, the nepotism runs deep. Good luck.

2. Most stressful interview day. No breaks between rooms. Rapid fire of very challenging questions and follow-ups. Felt very judged with every answer I gave. PD responded with rudeness after I asked a basic question.

💬1. well the shame is clearly not true as this year's peds match was not the research fellow +1. very organized interview day and responsive coordinator. > hated this interview day seemed like they were trying to see how you do under stress

MORE DELETING GOING ON HERE REGARDING DERMTWITTER AND THE LADY FROM STANFORD WHO WE HAVE ESTABLISHED NEEDS TO TAKE A BREAK FROM TWEETING> KEEP DELETING IT AND I WILL POST IT EVERYWHERE< YAS! Also, people keep asking the posters with 22X if they are URMs and they keep deleting that too! Shouldn't we know if holistic review is actually in effect! We could tell the stanford doc to tweet about it!!!

Hi folks! My name is YJ Kim; I've met some of you on the interview trail. For those of you who didn't match, I am so sorry. I wanted to plug in this research position for my amazing research mentor, Dr. Kavita Sarin, who is looking for an experienced clinical research coordinator to help run trials in skin cancer and medical dermatology. Send CV to Ksarin@stanford.edu. I have nothing but great things to say about her!

Per Match List tab, does Harvard really have 11 spots (10 + 1 med/derm)??? And Stanford only 6?

#27132019-2020 DermMar 23

could anyone clarify the number of spots Harvard has??????????????

Mar 23

Stanford has 10 this year

Mar 23

Feel free to change the number of spots on the match list if you know the numbers

Looking at the survey tab was a horrible mistake. Lots of people ranking my top programs highly as well :(

#27112019-2020 DermMar 23

it's derm. i've made peace with going anywhere on my list

Mar 23
0

< same :( / same as well, everyone loves the same 15 to 20 programs :( there goes my match to somewhere I care about

Mar 23
0

on the opposite end, looking at the list stressed me out because places I ranked high others didn't and places I ranked low others ranked high. Makes me wonder if I messed up my ROL x2

Mar 23
0

Its not really a surprise that people are ranking places like Harvard, Penn, Stanford, UCSF, etc. highly...

Mar 23
0

mrw no one is ranking my #1 as #1 or #2, which means i might match there and i would be very happy :))

Ugh omg can we please be adults and not randomly add 100 on the rank list tab

#27032019-2020 DermMar 23

I know at least 104 other friends that ranked KCUMB-GME Consortium #1 with me / y'all are the worst sometimes // thank you to whoever fixed it

Mar 23
0

< someone deleted the #1 ranks for UCSF. What was it last? <I think it was the same as Stanford, so I made it 5

Mar 23
0

agreed

Mar 23

<Get it together people!

Mar 23
0

Yeah can we please stop being so uncool now that ranks are in and any of your motivations to be a troll are gone! honestly, it's probably not us. more likely to be the program itself...<why would they even care, I'm sure they have more important things to do

Mar 23
0

um, we live for this juicy shit too

Mar 23
0

LOL @ a program being petty enough to come in and change it to 100 ppl ranked it 1

Mar 23
0

not that one

Mar 23
0

<hilarious how there are 20 more 1st ranks than 2nd and 3rd. I guess its all those people that only got one interview and it happened to be Stanfrod, Harvard or another top program. smh. I'm losing faith in my future colleagues...

Mar 23
0

I highly doubt that. People are probably just not filling in their top 2 and 3 bc they're mostly concerned with getting their number 1. I initially only filled out 1 and 2 out of laziness. Not sure if your comment was a joke or not... but most of those people have more than 3 interviews. <it was sarcasm

Mar 23

ah, very dry.

Fill out the rank sheet properly. How can there be an unequal number of #1, #2 and #3? -- Trolls

#27002019-2020 DermMar 23

i guess fuck anyone who doesn't have 3 interviews lol

Mar 23
0

good point. that was insensitive

Mar 23
0

rank #3 > rank #2 still doesn't make sense though also lmfao at the predominance of respondents ranked ivies first, so there's obviously a bias here

Mar 23
0

LOL

Mar 23
0

unequal number, because people adding to it. Stanford just jumped 4 up in like 15 minutes // ha, Harvard just did it in short period too, smh

I didn't get any RTM / post communication. Can we be honst with eachother? Did people get RTM calls and if so from where? Trying to manage my expectations here.

#26982019-2020 DermMar 23

Very competitive applicant with a lot of interviews: I got 0 RTM calls or emails << Interviewed at 14 got 1 email<<also very competitive applicant with 4/5 top interviews and 25+ interview offers and 0 RTM calls or emails as well, though a few "hints" from my home program when talking to the PD there. << my friend got 2 RTM calls

Mar 23
0

I also had over 25 interview offers and not RTM. I think only 1-2 places did it this year and who knows how many they gave.

Mar 23
0

Thanks feeing better.

Stanford // 11 interviews 1RTM call

Mar 23

Hey sorry long time since visiting spreadsheet. Did any programs send out RTM calls this year?

#26462019-2020 DermMar 23

people won't post because they are supposed to be kept private.

Mar 23
0

<I would search through the sheet. A few of the RTM posts seemed slightly fake, but it seems like a few (less than 5) may have (e.g. Stanford)

Mar 23

Thoughts on Cornell? Impressed with interview day but what's the reputation?

#26102019-2020 DermMar 23

Seems like the best of both worlds. Incredible program and training and as far as reputation goes, it is very high up there. Cornell is an Ivy League name which is super reputable. Is it Harvard or Stanford, no, but I'd argue it's only the next tier down as far as prestige goes

Mar 23
0

<I don't have an answer but dont forget reputation is an extrinsic measure that doesn't tell you much. It is also highly contentious as this sheet has shown over the past months. Clinics, patient population, speciality exposure, fellowship match, research can all be considered individually according to what matters to you. If rep matters though you can factor that in, but again it is super contentious, mostly research based, and seems made up half the time (aka loudest ppl on google sheet determine the accepted rep)

only 1 person got the Yale RTM? others plz verify

#25882019-2020 DermMar 23

sounds suspect to me if there was only 1 person. Wonder what these ppl get out of doing fake RTM? maybe they think the rest of us will rank these places lower?

Mar 23
0

Unfortunately its near impossible to interpret RTM calls on this spreadsheet

Mar 23
0

even when it says x2 or x3 it could be a random fake post from 1 person

Mar 23
0

Exactly

Mar 23
0

Yale might not do R2M but they are known to make it very clear that they want you so if there's been no correspondence, that's definitely a sign - also Stanford and Penn has indeed sent out calls

Mar 23
0

Yale won't get everyone they want, so don't worry if there is no correspondence from any of these programs

Mar 23
0

If a place has sent out RTM calls and you didn't get one... would it be unusual for you to still match there? x2 << not impossible, but your chances are much lower

Mar 23
0

<Not really. The applicants who are getting r2m calls at these locations are getting r2m calls from all the others that do them as well, and everyone can only go to one program.
