Can we now openly share which programs sent out RTM communications? I've had radio silence so just want to know which programs have passed me over < please do we all want to hear this < NYU, Stanford, Emory < NYU and Stanford said RTM??? No way < what about sinai? < I must be hallucinating these emails in front of me then < you got it from sinai? sigh < Not Sinai. I heard nothing from them. Just NYU, Stanford, Emory, and Northwestern < What did the NYU/Stanford emails say roughly? < RIPPPP I thought I did well at NYU and Stanford... < That they were impressed with the interview and reiterated the goodness of fit and how well the programs will help me accomplish my goals. < this isnt rtm though < this does not sound like RTM they use pretty suggestive language usually < They said "ranked to match" after all the preamble. It's uncanny how similar the emails were. < lmao i got multiple 'goodness of fit' emails that means nothing < Well I interviewed at some of the above places and have not even received the said "goodness of fit" email sooooooo < Stanford said multiple times they weren't reaching out to applicants directly < “As we mentioned on interview day, in an effort to respect your decision making and personal time, we will not be reaching out to any applicants prior to match day this year. That said, we want to be a resource to each of you as you make this important decision, so please do not hesitate to reach out if there is any more information we can provide about our program that will help you feel more confident in making your decision about where you would feel best supported and prepared to launch your career in our wonderful field. We feel very lucky that each of you has chosen dermatology, and we are so excited to see the way you will brighten the future of our specialty!” < this is not a rtm email. rtm email literally says ranked to match that is why it is called rtm email < How abt NYU? What does the RTM email say? < yo this cell is like watching a court case be solved LOL < NYU sent an email to applicants last year saying they weren't doing RTM call. How come they flipped this year? < they didn't this person is a troll and doesnt realize how many people ahve access to top 5 program info and receipts < tea 💅🏻. < We'll find out in 2 weeks < we literally won't ever get confirmation about RTM rumors but ok < i mean you may still match there and clearly they liked you as not everyone got it but just saying that these are not rtm emails.

Can you be a pure clinical professor of Derm within a top academic program (e.g., Harvard, UCSF, Stanford, etc.)? I am referring to a position with minimal research responsibilities. If so, how difficult are these positions to acquire after residency if one comes from a mid-tier residency program? Assume I don't care about money and am willing to make well-below market salary (e.g., 100k). I know that academics is less attractive (because of $$$) but I would imagine that jobs at top tier programs are still hard to get. < pretty easy, not many people are willing to take that big of a salary cut

Did anyone get RTM (direct or via mentor) from Harvard, UCSF, Penn, NYU or Stanford (officially or unofficially)? Don't need to say which one but just any of them at all? < got it from 3 of them. <Lol I already know 3 that explicity said they won't do RTM < i would say they were unofficial, individuals can be acting outside of the policy of the department as a whole

tips for funding relocation for residency? loans or any other options? don't really want to blow through my savings < some programs give a relocation stipend (stanford etc) but otherwise, loans! wish we had better options.

Once we make it out on the other side, we need to make this process better for posterity. Culture of elitism is causing so much anxiety and $$$. I think we can all agree that med school/undergrad "pedigree" is probably one of the worst variables to consider for residency app. We should judge people on their own merit (holistically). It makes me sad to see the lack of "training" diversity in academic programs; when most of the residents & faculty trained at the same "elite" institutions: Ivy League, Stanford, Hopkins, MIT etc. Programs say they care about DEI but the only 1 or 2 URMs they have trained at Harvard, Princeton, Stanford etc. This is why people feel the need to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars at an elite private institution, so they an achieve their career goals or take on an unpaid RY to crank out papers for a big shot at an elite institution. This toxic culture of "elitism" has cost each of us so much $$ and family time; it has given us impostor syndrome, and serious FUCKING anxiety. We have to be better.

any calls from Penn? < co-ask, from harvard, ucsf, stanford, nyu, nw, emory,utsw etc ? lolll < yes for two of those but they contacted my mentor not me lol<also got 1 of these but contacted mentor not me < Harvard literally sent out an email last week saying they aren't doing RTM calls. < i mean, not doing rtm is means not contacting you as a student. they (programs) who say not rtm may still contact your mentors to vet you as someone else whose mentor was contacted from a no rtm program < that's not what OP was asking about

Any thoughts on UCSF vs Penn vs Stanford vs NYU? NYU - Residents seem kind of stressed out but they obviously get incredible breadth in their training. UCSF - similar breadth as NYU, not as busy but also maybe more resident support and QoL (especially with financial assistance NYU doesn't get)? Stanford - also seems pretty great in terms of QoL, great subspecialty training, more chill than NYU/UCSF? Penn - low cost of living, seems like residents are happy and supported there? I'm not really sure what are the specifics that make it so amazing like everyone says since their interview day wasn't focused on selling themselves. But I'm kind of torn. Any advice here?

Or am I reading that wrong? Seems like a less than objective way to rank < It's all based on opinion. In the past, there have been a few publications that have attempted to rank programs based on NIH funding, faculty, residents, research output, etc (https://cdn.mdedge.com/files/s3fs-public/Document/September-2017/CT094100189_REV.pdf) but this is outdated now. From what I've been told, you've got the big powerhouses (NYU, Penn, UCSF, Harvard, Yale, Stanford), the great but not quite top programs (Emory, Northwestern, Sinai, Wake Forest, Johns Hopkins, Miami, UTSW), a bunch of solid programs that aren't particularly famous for research or anything but will still train you well and prepare you for a career, and then a few bottom tier programs that have been known to have issues (ie flagged by ACGME, residents don't match to fellowships, program closes midway through a year, etc) < is there anything more recent?"

Rough reminder: fill out the rank tally, you guys! < and impressions < something fishy going on in the rank list, stanford got 7 #1s in like less than a day < is it added within a very close time frame?< I think some weirdos adding some random numbers , which are easy to spot. I can not believe we have them as future colleagues
