What anonymous posters said
Anonymous posters frequently described NYU Grossman as a highly regarded, competitive dermatology program with strong clinical volume and hospital-based training. Several posts noted long working hours and mixed accounts of resident satisfaction, while others raised questions about housing costs and salary. ❌1. Very fucking weird vibes while rotating there. Attendings are nice to your face, harsh behind your back. Residents (including chiefs) are talking shit about certain nurses. Everyone can be super cold (esp some of the nurses? idk maybe just a NYC thing). Residents ask you to do little personal errands not related to patient care.
💬1. Might be a NYC thing with the nurses; they've been on strike in the past few months and tensions been building up. Frequent discussions on r/residency about the dynamic between NYC nurses and residents. > personal errands sounds like some bullshit > a friend who did an away there told me he was asked to help with picking up a resident's child lol > that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard respectfully a crazy thing to ask a med student
Did an away there and had the best time ever, all the faculty and residents I interacted with were very lovely. patient population was also super diverse so got to see a lot of interesting cases as well!

For anyone doing an away at NYU, were you given epic access? I supposedly am supposed to have access but never got any information on log in credentials?

I don't know a single NYU grad who would go to the program again if it wasn't for needing to be in NYC for family or spouse's work? >why? > do u mean grad from the residency program or from the med school?
bro they went 10/13 this year at crazy institutions. yeah their derm deparment is weaker but they matched incredibly well. also hopkins r

Also, people have higher priorities than matching at the “top” programs. Who wants to go to Harvard work-horse and live in miserable Boston

Bruh, in what world is UCSF, Northwestern, UCSD, NYU, Southwestern not impressive. I also think it’s impressive that everyone was able to match at other institutions besides Hopkins. It’s prob more impressive than say, CWRU where a bunch of internals stayed

Plus being able to match at some of these CA / NYC programs without aways, crackedd

prestige and there's nothing wrong with that. Also matching 10 people from a single institution is a huge accomplishment.

Hopkins as a med school is very good so the name prob carries despite the derm dpt being not as strong >Also, people have higher priorities than matching at the “top” programs. Who wants to go to Harvard work-horse and live in miserable Boston

It was mostly positive toward Hopkins, idk why they would be the ones to delete it

there's no tea, it was actually just a bunch of people defending Hopkins. idk why someone was so pressed to delete it

[COPIED FROM PRIOR VERS] Is it just me or do Hopkins students not match all that well compared to other peer schools?

you apply based on ties, connections, and location pref. Otherwise, everything else is basically RNG. Godspeed if you're aiming for T5

thank you, but connections and RNG aside, and im willing to move anywhere, are they created equal or is one going to give an edge? not trying to be a snob or anything. just want genuine info for life changing career decisions

Don't love the way the question was framed about which t5 is the "worst" - they are all great for different reasons (as are non T5 programs). Harvard is great for inpatient and complex med-derm along with network; less ideal for QoL. UCSF is great for clinical volume, location, mentorship; less ideal for QoL, exploring non-clinical interests given the more busy schedule/various sites. Penn is a good balance of clinical training, research, QoL but def leans much more academic and location is not for everyone. NYU is great for clinical volume, procedural derm, network, research; less ideal for those who aren't into NYC and its pace. Stanford is great for research, innovation, kind faculty; less ideal for Mohs, clinical volume/diversity. Just a few thougts, but again. Matching derm anywhere is a huge accomplishment - don't focus too much on the rankings, focus on the personal fit for you.

someone who thinks they're better than any of the T5s is about to get a rude awakening lol
Emory NYU, Washu, lots of the Texas programs workhorse
LSU, Tennessee, Wake forest, Mississippi, Missouri, Arkansas are examples of chill ones
lies on the Texas programs being workhorse. There are definitely chill programs here. More reasons to take people's opinions cautiously.
same with nyu…yall are just parroting what you've heard people say in the past instead of talking about things you have actual knowledge about…
