2 entries❌1. Very fucking weird vibes while rotating there. Attendings are nice to your face, harsh behind your back. Residents (including chiefs) are talking shit about certain nurses. Everyone can be super cold (esp some of the nurses? idk maybe just a NYC thing). Residents ask you to do little personal errands not related to patient care.

Could anyone explain why some programs seem to have high number of residents go on to do Mohs? Is it because there is strong surgical exposure or that they have a good track record of matching residents or what? E.g. NYU

Question: these 1-spot tracks like Stanford peds derm (for example).. do they already know who they want for the spot ahead of time but interview as a formality? The last person who matched stanford peds derm was literally a stanford peds derm research fellow. Do we even have a chance??
nyu filled theirs so they're not interviewing this year. I think you have a chance if you have an interview :)

Did anyone who applied to NYU ever fill out a supplemental application? If so, where did you find it or were you sent one? I saw it on the website earlier on in the season that it's highly encouraged, but never got sent anything and I didn't see anything on ERAS.
i didnt get anything either, did anybody else?> I thought they meant the ERAS supplemental app and that the website was just outdated, am I wrong?

The ERAS supplement is what they called the "Most Meaningful Experiences" (and geo preferences) 2 years ago aka it's an outdated term

Just an FYI for future med students / premeds - NYU, Stony Brook, and Wayne State have early assurance derm residency for their med students that you apply to when you're applying to med school. If you get into the early assurance residency, med school bceomes accelerated and you can graduate in 3 yrs. (edit: NYU is now 3 yrs for all students)
NYU med school is now 3 years for all students with an optional fourth year for research. Maybe you should take an optional year of research to make sure your claims have some basis before you just start saying random incorrect nonsense

I'm sorry, I forgot that they went to a 3yr MD for all students! But the rest of my info still stands, including 3yr MD for Stony Brook early assurance derm. I don't understand where the vitriol is coming from? Just tryna keep everyone in the know.

no, stony brook reserves a derm spot for a med student starting their matriculation into medical school (they basically get a seat reserved for them before they even step foot into medical school). The other derm spots are open for anyone who applies during the regular ERAS cycle

pretty sure historically every school has 1 spot for their own students, or MD-PHD or both. the rest of the majority tends to go to away rotators or ppl with very strong ties who interviewed well otherwise

anyone else frustrated that NYU seems to have yet again not interviewed any derm applicants? per last years sheet they didnt extend any interviews to external prelim applicants, learned this after i wasted a gold signal there. wish they woulda dvertise that they reserve spots for their home students only

Does ayone know the specifics of what makes NYU a 'workhorse' program? are the hours longer than usual? do residents see more patients per day? less academic time? I'm trying to understand the specifics lol >and for UCSF
specifically for UCSF, it's just that the volume is high so you're often leaving clinic around 5:30/6. Academic time is good (1-2 half days a week) and support is there. It's just the patients you're seeing are complicated and there are a lot of them

i got interviews at nyu, columbia, cornell with no nyc connections and no away and being from far away, did not get mt sinai. harvard does not take into account whether you did an away or not in their interview invites; i interviewed there as well
