What anonymous posters said

Anonymous posters frequently group this program among a small set of highly regarded dermatology residencies. Several described residents as happy and well supported with favorable quality of life and compensation, while some noted comparatively weaker derm surgery or Mohs training. Many posts also debated whether post-interview check-in or 'RTM' calls occurred, reflecting persistent rumor and uncertainty around recruitment communications.

Fame & Shame

2025–2026 Derm

4 entries

1. All of the hospitals are beautiful

1. I heard that their Peds Derm spot is guaranteed to whoever their current research fellow is, the nepotism runs deep. Good luck.

2. Most stressful interview day. No breaks between rooms. Rapid fire of very challenging questions and follow-ups. Felt very judged with every answer I gave. PD responded with rudeness after I asked a basic question.

💬1. well the shame is clearly not true as this year's peds match was not the research fellow +1. very organized interview day and responsive coordinator. > hated this interview day seemed like they were trying to see how you do under stress

Hi all. Just wanted to let everyone know that several of us have checked with Stanford residents and faculty. We have confirmed that no interviews have gone out.

It's an individualized email though, so they're probably still sending out the invites.

Programs that have done RTM calls so far= Stanford, Yale, any others?

#932017-2018 DermMar 23

Only Yale

Mar 23

UCSF

Mar 23

Yale def did (I got a call), but Stanford doesnt do RTM calls and UCSF hasnt done them yet from what i was told by the PC

Mar 23
0

Stanford did not make RTM calls. Above we were saying they may call all people they interview to ask for questions. haven't done it yet it seems though,

Mar 23
0

I got an explicit RTM call from Stanford

Mar 23

Stanford doesn't do RTM calls, stop lying to troll us.

Mar 23

Any new RTM calls or emails recently?

#572017-2018 DermMar 23

Got a call from Stanford seeing if I had any additional questions. Don't think it was RTM. Anyone else get called?

Mar 23
0

<---trolling. Stanford didn't make calls.

Mar 23
0

Hrm, how are you sure whether they have or have not made calls?

Mar 23

Stanford RTM call

#332017-2018 DermMar 23

I'm pretty sure this said UCSF ranked-to-match earlier?

Mar 23
0

No it said Stanford. That troll (anonymous gopher) changed it to other things like UCSF and BU and I kept changing it back. I'm the OP.

Mar 23
0

This same troll has been doing that for weeks. He changed one of my posts from "UCSF" to "Kentucky" a few weeks ago.

Mar 23
0

A user claimed that he/she received a RTM call from Stanford. You can choose to believe it or not believe it. OP will refrain from commenting further due to vicious attacks from the first time it was posted.

Mar 23

Man forget about Stanford RTM call, i didn't even get a "any lingering questions" call people are saying they do

#302017-2018 DermMar 23

^ someone is deleting all the comments that were left on this (probably going along with trying to make people look bad intentionally).

Mar 23
0

If Mods can restore the comments, that'd be good.

Mar 23
0

Comments that are deleted seem to be deleted for good.. I'm not sure how this person is deleting the comments though as even the users w/ access don't have this function. If anyone has ideas, please chime in.

Mar 23
0

You don't need access to delete comments. If a comment is pending approval, you can edit, resolve, or delete it.

Mar 23
0

Can anyone delete (not resolve) my test comment? When you resolve, there's still a history of the comment having been there in the comment history.

Mar 23
0

Now the option to delete and resolve are gone...maybe it's because you're posting as someone who is signed in? It may be different when anonymous posters post. I can delete the anonymous comment below but not the comment from Anoni moose.

Mar 23
0

Yeah you're right. I guess the moral of the story is to sign in to comment even if you don't have access.

Mar 23
0

This was the exact issue with the above posts. The troll kept changing the comments to ridiculous things because you could just edit and change the anonymous users posts.

Mar 23

^^Just seeing the Stanford stuff now. Did anyone else get a call from them? Not RTM call but a call for answering any questions?

#292017-2018 DermMar 23

Stanford has NOT made RTM calls. Straight from the PD.

Mar 23
0

But have they made calls for questions?

Mar 23
0

I have not been a part of the above conversations at all, but I will say I did get a call which was simply a check-in for questions, but it was not a RTM call. I honestly wouldn't believe the above RTM stuff because people have been posting fake stuff about Stanford all cycle (including fake interview invites), so I suspect this is no different. For what it's worth, the above conversation started well before I got a check-in call, so I think that potentially makes it seem more likely to be fake.

Mar 23
0

So is your PD confirming the RTM call?

Mar 23
0

Also, to be clear because this situation was/is very confusing. I was the OP of the right side column only where the troll was changing everything. I am NOT the OP (I think it was "derm applicant" or something like that) who first wrote about the RTM call on the left side (perhaps my use of "OP" made things more confusing). I came in in support of him/her honestly, but I don't think it was clear that there were two of us contributing to the conversation...

Mar 23
0

No. I am not confirming the RTM call. I asked my PD about it and she asked where I had heard about it but neither confirmed nor denied it. On the spreadsheet, I saw a user post about the RTM, get trolled, and then respond with some disparaging comments about middle America, and I wanted to warn him/her before my PD or someone recognizes who he/she was. But sorry. I still don't know whether or not RTM calls went out.

Mar 23
0

Lol, repeating/rehashing what the OP(s?) said on here isn't really making them look good if the PDs were to see this now. Prob should delete this conversation too if previous stuff was too lol

Mar 23
0

Yes, please delete this section. I was trying to explain the situation to OP and whoever just posted asking to clarify, but please delete this now that it's all been settled.

Mar 23
0

It doesn't matter if this all stays here. The person who posted all the Stanford stuff probably wasn't even someone who interviewed at Stanford since it was untrue! Everyone here is a troll.

Mar 23
0

Nope, pretty sure it was a douchebag who wanted to brag about his/her RTM call.

Mar 23
0

Trying to be malicious to these OPs for posting about a call isn't helpful. Even if what they posted is true, Stanford made many calls and it's hard to know who wrote this, so leaving all this won't "trace" things to anyone. Plus, it's still very possible that some random person posted all this and not an interviewee

Why are positive comments about NYU and Stanford being deleted?

#242017-2018 DermMar 23

dont act dumb. people are gunners. shit is getting changed in an attempt to manipulate people. It has happened every year and it is hapening again this year. get over it. dont make decisions based on those comments. it is out of our control.

Mar 23

Someone is also deleting positive comments for UCSF and Northwestern...

anyone have thoughts on California schools?

Mar 22

expensive living AF

Mar 22

regardless of reputation, a lot of them are super desirable because of their location (and many of them are really good, too) and will be ranked highly by many applicants based on geography alone. Though all relatively highly competitive, UCSF and Stanford are some of the top programs in the nation (in many respects). USC is also a well-respected program with excellent clinical diversity given its county hospital and is a program that is known to give residents great autonomy

Mar 22
0

Are there any "weak" derm programs in CA? Maybe Loma Linda. Doesn't matter, everyone wants to live in California so they'll all be competitive for that reason alone.| The UC programs are all considered very competitive and strong programs. UCSF is considered a top 5 but has the reputation of being very malignant

Mar 22
0

From speaking to UCSF residents it actually sounded to me like changes have been made to address some of the issues residents were having - did not get the impression that it was a malignant environment but if someone has some inside info please share!

Mar 22
0

what was making the program malignant? just the sheer amount of work or interpersonal conflicts? I'm not concerned about the amount of work, but interpersonal conflicts would influence my ranking

Mar 22
0

Definitely hours and work volume. In the past, on previous spreadsheets, UCSF derm residents seemed pretty exhausted & a little late by the time they got to the applicant pre-interview dinner & it was quite noticeable. I don't believe any of it was interpersonal conflict related. I mean it's UCSF so maybe people just accepted it as is.
